The base is heavy, does not loosen, and keeps the lamp upright. The color is hard to judge from the pictures, but it has blue and is pretty. Real stained glass, not acrylic. Heavy, brass finished pole. I'm using three 18 w LED bulbs, and can put the light exactly where I want it in the room. Love the foot switch. I have had many torch style and living room style lamps over the years since houses don't have ceiling lights, but eventually they loosen up, fall over, or wear out. Worth hundreds more. Just ordered another antique floor lamp.
